COVID-19 Lockdown

I thought I’d take some time to throw a few idea’s out there for those stuck inside during the current Lock down in the UK. And around the world for that matter.

What is currently going on is very serious, and we should all play our part in only going outside when it is absolutely necessary to do so.

Unfortunately this means we can’t go out to take pictures as we usually would. This doesn’t mean that we can’t take pictures though!

Document your life at home

First thing I’d recommend is to start a project documenting your life as it is now in lock down, at home. I might not be as easy as you think but I’ve been shooting a Home project for the last 8 years now, so I have a head start but I can’t recommend it enough. Its a great exercise to get you find compositions in what might be a small space.

Still Life Pictures

Second idea could be to set up a simple home studio, dark of white back ground and shoot some still life images.
You can find a lot of interesting objects around you house.

Self Portraits

Self portraits are a good way to learn more about photography techniques and also a little about yourself. I’m often shooting self portraits in reflections when I am out and about or if I find a mirror.
I have shot some formal type self portraits with the camera on self timer.

Try shooting a self portrait each day. At the time you might not see any difference or point, but after a while and you look back… I think you’ll see a bigger picture

I know the current situation is difficult, frustrating… But I can’t express how important it is for us all to stay home as much as we can and help the country try to recover from this pandemic.

I hope these idea’s help with shooting at home and if you have any suggestions please leave a comment with them.

Please everyone, stay safe!
