Portrait of Harley

Harley, 2017

Harley, 2017

I had the great pleasure to work with Harley on a very simple and relaxed portrait shoot. This is just my kind of shoot... Laid back, no pressure and to have a laugh doing it.

The general plan for the shoot was to just shoot around the house and create some easy going, beautiful portraits... and we did just that!

Connecting with your subject!

I can't stress how important it is to make a connection with the model! Without it, you will notice it in the pictures... You will find it so much harder to create what it is you intended to create.

Silence is only awkward if one cannot feel a connection with the other

When you both click, it just works... I can't really articulate it but everything just seems better and it really reflects in the work being created.

If you find it hard to small talk, just ask questions and I guarantee from the answers you will find something to talk about... Sports, food, travel, music, films... And if you are desperate..... you may have to resort to the unthinkable.....Eastenders or Corrie! (I know right!)

This particular shoot we both clicked in the pre-shoot communications, we both liked the work of other artists and wanted to go for the same thing, just simple natural light portraits... Minimal make up and wardrobe to just be what she would wear on any normal day. It was fantastic and would love to work with Harley again some day!

If you'd be interested to learn how to shoot portraits under natural light or even off camera flash get in touch!

I've been considering running small 1 to 1 workshops for people, let me know what you think!
