Why I think it's important to document our lives:

I believe we have the responsibility for future generations to see how life was; now. Just like some of the masters from the past did. They have given us images and video content for us to reflect on. 
I love being able to look at images of where I live or visit and see how things looked 60 years ago. Seeing what the architecture looked liked compared to now. How fashion looked. Even in the space of 5 years... A lot can change.

Back up or Print your photo's!!!

As fantastic the advantages of the digital world are, there is one thing that really bugs me... That is the majority of the pictures taken are lost on your phones, tablets or computer hard drives... And that is where they will stay. 

What if you phone is dropped in water and is destined for the bin?.... What if you tablet is stolen or what if your computer dies? Its happened to me and I lost a shit load of pictures.... gutted, a lot of them were of my son in the first couple of years of his life. 

Now you see why I'm an advocate of printing your work.... All of them moments and memories will be what the end result of taking a picture should be. A tangible object to hold and view for many years to come!. 

Backing up for your files to a couple of external hard drives I can't recommend enough... Just in case something was to happen it is not all lost.

If you are taking pictures of your kids, or your family just because of who they are to you... You are still documenting and recording history... If you're a street photographer its the same thing... The work needs to been seen, it needs to be archived for the future to see the now and for that future generation to study how life used to be... Our history... Your history is important!

On that note... Keep on taking pictures and let them be seen, not just online but in prints!
